How to Make Iron Supplements Taste Better
Taking medicine on a daily basis, regardless of the benefit, can be a drag. When the medicine tastes awful, it can be difficult to make yourself keep up the regimen, especially for kids or those with particularly sensitive palates. Iron supplements are often prescribed by doctors to combat a deficiency in the system and need to be taken regularly to keep iron at healthy levels. Masking the taste of iron takes a little trial and error.Instructions

Sweeten them. Mary Poppins knew what she was talking about when she sang, "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down." Try suppressing the metallic taste of iron in a glass of grape, orange, or cherry juice.

2
Hide them in warm milk. Try using a little warm milk flavored with vanilla, almond, or honey to mask the taste and drink it in the morning when you are most hungry, or late in the day when you are tired.

3
Stir them into flavorful foods. If drinking the iron is no longer palatable, try mixing a few drops into soup, spaghetti sauce, salad dressing, or anything where more complex flavors can win out over the taste of iron supplements.

Use a powdered iron supplement. If liquid iron cannot be masked enough for your taste, consult your doctor about switching to a powdered supplement. These can readily mix into hot cereal, yogurt, or smoothies, and tend to have a milder taste than liquid iron supplements.
