Enzyme Supplementation Diets

An enzyme supplement diet is rich in vital digestive enzymes. Digestive enzymes can be found in many foods and dietary supplements. Some of the most common enzymes needed by the body are amylase, protease and pepsin. Enzymes help to improve digestion and metabolic rate. When you are young, your body makes an abundance of enzymes, but as you age this natural process declines.
  1. Enzyme Rich Foods

    • Eat enzyme rich foods. Enzymes are found in raw foods such as fruits and vegetables. Try to include these foods in your diet every day throughout the day. Have two vegetables with a lean source of protein with dinner. A good example of a healthy enzyme rich meal would be a dark leafy green salad with extra tomatoes, salmon with herbs and spinach. Cooking your food does destroy some vital enzymes and vitamins so try to eat your food raw as often as possible. Snack on apples and carrots throughout the day.

You can also drink vegetable juices but the fiber is removed from the juicing process. You can add a few scoops of fiber back into your juice if you like. Most people juice because they feel as though they don't have time to eat fruits and vegetables. Juicing is a fast fix. Try to eat whole foods as often as possible and use juicing as a second option.

    Enzyme Supplments

    • Take enzyme supplements with each meal. Go to your local health food store and look for a supplement that contains more than 10 different digestive enzymes. You should be able to choose from a wide selection of brands. Read the instructions on the label. Most enzyme supplements work best when you take them with every meal. Be sure to take your supplements down with pure water also.

    Importance

    • Incorporating a wide variety of enzymes in your diet is vital to your overall health. Our bodies do not function properly without enzymes. When the body is able to properly digest foods, more nutrients are utilized and there is less toxic load on the body. Food needs to be broken down in order to get to the core of nutrition which is found in vitamins and minerals. Enzymes assist your body with breaking down various foods such as fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Digestive enzymes also help to reduce inflammation and improve metabolic rate. Metabolic rate is the rate that your body burns fat.
