What Is the Difference Between Lithium Aspartate & Lithium Carbonate?
Lithium is a trace element classified in the alkali metal group. When mixed with carbonic acid, lithium carbonate is formed. Lithium aspartate occurs when the element is combined with orotic acid.-
Lithium Carbonate

Lithium carbonate is an inorganic carbonate that is slightly soluble in water. The lithium molecule is mixed with a molecule of carbonic acid. Pure lithium combined with water produces a brisk exothermic reaction that is dangerous if ingested.
Lithium Asparatate

Dr. Hans Nieper, a German cancer doctor, was one of the first to say that lithium aspartate is not a drug. He believed that aspartates were mineral transporters. In other words, aspartate is able to deliver lithium directly to cells, whereas carbonic acid does not have the capability to do that.
Dietary Supplement

Lithium aspartate is sold as a dietary supplement and has shown some promise in the treatment of Alzhemer’s disease. Studies funded by the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation suggest that lithium aspartate can help the brain regenerate and maintain brain cells. It also may have benefits when used to treat hypothyrodism.
Psychiatric Medication

Lithium carbonate is used as a mood stabilizer in the treatment of bipolar disorder and suicide prevention. It requires a prescription from a doctor and is classified as a drug. Use must be carefully monitored to prevent liver damage.
