Ovaltine Liquid Diet
Ovaltine is a chocolate drink made from malt extract invented in the late 19th century by Swiss scientist Georg Wander, who believed the beverage was a possible solution to the plague of malnutrition and a healthful diet supplement. Full of nourishing ingredients, Ovaltine suits people with active lives who care about their personal health and the well-being of their families.-
Ovaltine Nourishment
-
Ovaltine is a preparation of barley, milk, eggs, cocoa and soya fortified with thiamin, vitamin D and niacin to make a beverage when added to milk. Served hot as an energy drink at Swiss ski resorts, Ovomaltine was an instant success and before long was exported all over Europe. When it hit the U.K. in 1904, it was sold under the condensed name Ovaltine and shortly thereafter introduced in America as the first convenient and complete milk-enrichment product for undernourished children, breastfeeding women, the frail and the sick.
Ovaltine for children is a nourishing daily drink with many essential vitamins and minerals. A glass of milk with Ovaltine provides more than 20 percent of the daily requirement of vitamins A, C, B6 and B12 and 25 percent more of the daily calcium, zinc and magnesium kids need. It is also prescribed by doctors for its high nutritional value, and research from a group of scientists recently discovered that Ovaltine is one of the most effective drinks that help athletes recover after exercise.
Liquid Diet

As a liquid diet, the Ovaltine malt mixture has zero fat and is cholesterol-free. The diet is reduced-sugar and ideal if you're watching your carbohydrate intake. Four teaspoons of Ovaltine mixed with 8 ounces of skim milk provide a solid helping of vitamin and mineral supplements with only 170 calories per serving and 35 percent of your daily calcium. The diet is often used as a meal replacement three or four times a day.
According to Deanna Segrave-Dalyto, a registered dietitian and food expert, "Ovaltine advertises that it's chock full of vitamins and minerals and while it is better 'fortified' compared to other chocolate milk mix-ins, as a registered dietitian, I think Ovaltine's biggest plus is that it's a tasty way to get kids, and even adults, to drink their milk."
Recent studies suggest that three out of four Americans don't get enough milk nutrients, which is vital for bone health and the immune system. Ovaltine is also said to be a lot more wholesome than rivals Yoo-hoo and Nesquik.
