T-Bol Side Effects

T-Bol is another name for the anabolic steroid Turinabol. Turinabol was originally developed in East Germany in the 1960s. It is essentially a modified version of Dianabol, an earlier steroid also developed by Eastern German scientists, and is relatively popular with bodybuilders for a variety of reasons. T-Bol is consumed orally, and as with most oral steroids, there are a large number of side effects, some of which can be quite dangerous if not countered with proper treatment and care.
  1. Effects on the Liver

    • As an oral steroid, T-Bol undergoes an alkalinization process so it has the ability to survive its first pass through the liver, so the body can absorb it into the bloodstream for use by the body to promote muscle and strength gains. This process is taxing to the liver, and if measures are not taken, can lead to severe liver toxicity, liver failure and eventually death. Often, milk thistle or other products are taken in concert with Turinabol to help lower the effects of possible liver toxicity caused by the alkalinization of the compound.

    Effects on Natural Testosterone

    • As with most steroids, when taking T-Bol, natural testosterone production is reduced over time. Longer cycles without proper therapy during and after administration can cause the body to stop producing natural testosterone, leading to numerous other side effects, including sexual dysfunction. Despite the possibility of delayed dysfunction when coming off a long cycle, sexual dysfunction is generally not present during use.

    Other Physiological Effects

    • Like other oral steroids, T-Bol can lower HDL cholesterol levels (often called "good" cholesterol) and raise LDL cholesterol levels (known as "bad" cholesterol"), so consistent blood monitoring should be performed to ensure levels of either don't fall dangerously low or high. One case of testicular cancer has been reported, but the patient took Turinabol for over five years at very high doses. Using Turinabol, like other steroids, can also lead to symptoms such as stunted growth in younger users, baldness to those predisposed toward male-pattern baldness, and acne.

    Psychological Side Effects

    • Psychological effects of steroids such as T-Bol are generally overplayed by media reports. While some users may experience increased violent tendencies, aggression, mania and, in some cases, psychosis, according to several studies, incidence of increased aggression or "roid rage" ranges from 0 percent to 5 percent, and is generally only present in those with an already-aggressive personality or traits.

    Effects in Women

    • Many steroids have virilization effects on women who use them. This means that women can develop "maleness" such as excessive body hair, an enlarged clitoris and a deepening of the voice due to vocal chord growth. T-Bol is relatively well-known to give excellent bodybuilding results in women for a very low dose, but prolonged use and abuse can lead to the side effects.
