Winni-V Side Effects

Winni-V is a type of anabolic steroid touted by its manufacturers as improving endurance, building muscle and enhancing athletic ability. Although marketed as "prescription free," Winni-V is, in essence, stanozolol, the same active ingredient in Winstrol, a medication used to treat anemia and certain types of cancer in women.

History

• The potentially harmful effects of Winstrol and other anabolic steroids led to the passage of the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 1990, which made the drugs a controlled substance. At that time, the makers of Winstrol stopped selling the drug in the United States.

Types of Side Effects

• Among men, the most common side effects of Winstrol include acne, swelling of the breast tissue (gynecomastia), and frequent erections and urination. For women, common side effects include acne, clitoral swelling, deepening of the voice, irregular menstruation, unusual hair growth on the body and hair loss from the scalp, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Drug Interactions

• When combined with blood thinners like heparin, Winstrol has the potential to cause uncontrollable bleeding, according to RxList.

Risks

• Some patients develop a potentially life-threatening condition called peliosis hepatis while taking Winstrol, which causes blood-filled cysts to form on the spleen or liver. Infrequently, use of Winstrol results in the formation of cancerous liver tumors.

Considerations

• Winstrol is considered toxic to fetal development and is not safe for use during pregnancy. Additionally, if you have a history of breast cancer, diabetes, an enlarged prostate, prostate cancer, or any disease affecting your heart, kidneys or liver, you should not take Winstrol due to its potential side effects.
