It is available in bulk powder, capsule, tablet and chewable tablet form, under names like Beta-D-ribofuranose or D-ribose. It treats a genetic metabolic disorder called myoadenylate deaminase deficiency (MAD or AMPD deficiency), decreased blood flow through the arteries in the heart (coronary artery disease) and as a supplement for athletes who wish to increase stamina and endurance.
