Natural Herbs Diet

Adding natural herbs to your diet is an excellent way to keep your body healthy and running to the best of its ability. There are even herbs that can help you lose weight. It is important to discuss the use of any herbal supplements to your diet with your doctor. Some herbs can interfere with certain medications or should be avoided due to underlying health conditions.
  1. Add Herbs to Your Food

    • One way to add herbs to your diet is to add them to your food. According to Battling for Health, Oxford Polytechnic Institute conducted a study that showed that cayenne pepper increases your metabolism by 20 percent. You might also want to consider adding red pepper, ginseng or mustard to some of your dishes for some similar results.

    Take Herbal Supplements

    • You can also add some herbal supplements as part of your natural herbs diet. Psyllium can add much-needed fiber to your diet, help keep your weight in check and help cleanse your colon. Psyllium can usually be found in the laxative section of grocery stores.

Evening primrose contains tryptophan, which tells your brain that you are full and, therefore, you eat less. This herb can be found in the dietary supplement section of most stores.

    Drink Green Tea

    • The University of Chicago Medical Center found that a "major chemical component of green tea caused rats to lose up to 21 percent of their body weight." Also, the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" did a study that shows "green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content." The University of Maryland Medical Center states that "one study confirmed that the combination of green tea and caffeine improved weight loss and maintenance in overweight and moderately obese individuals." Green tea has other health benefits as well, such as fighting free radicals and high blood pressure.
