Buy virgin coconut oil, preferably cold-processed. Other types of coconut oil, such as hydrogenated oil, contain harmful fats that will clog arteries with prolonged use.

Take 1 teaspoon a day at the start. Before you know how coconut oil will affect you, only take a small amount each day. 1 Teaspoon after lunch will be enough to gain some benefits while letting your body get accustomed to the new, natural supplement.

Slowly increase your doses. If after 2 or 3 days you do not notice any bad side-effects from the coconut oil, begin taking 2 and then 3 teaspoons of coconut oil each days, one after each meal

Take 3 tablespoons a day. Once you feel comfortable with 3 teaspoons each day, up the dosage to 3 tablespoons. This should be your regular dosage each day from here on out.
