MRPs are designed to replace one to two meals a day. Post-workout, mid-morning or right before bed are generally the best times, according to users. Write the shake times into your daily meal plan.

Creatine maintains cell hydration, which helps athletes perform better and gives working muscles a "pumped" look. Creatine is often consumed once a day, one hour before or after a workout. Decide which time is best for you and note it in your meal plan.

Blend or mix your MRP according to package directions. Water or milk is best, although milk adds a few calories and protein to the meal and is creamier in texture. Blend in a banana or one tablespoon of natural peanut butter for extra nutrients and flavor. Add a couple of ice cubes.

Mix the creatine as directed, although you may find that one mixed serving is required (versus the four or five advised on the package). Many athletes like to mix it with apple or grape juice, finding that the natural sugar in the juices appears to speed creatine absorption into the bloodstream.
