Plants That Make Your Hair Grow

There are several plants that either make hair grow or protect the shaft so it doesn't break and the hair looks longer. This is done by eating some plants and making others into a tea, or using other methods to apply to the hair shaft.
  1. Saw Palmetto

    • Saw Palmetto blocks the follicle from binding DHT to the androgen receptors when taken internally. This helps the hair shaft remain thicker.

    Borage

    • The seeds for the borage plants contain gamma linoleic acid, which convert to prostaglandin. This helps prevent further loss of hair and encourages hair growth when taken internally.

    Stinging Nettle

    • Stinging Nettle has a history of use in hair loss tonics. Scientists believe that it's because of its ability to prevent testosterone from converting to DHT, which is responsible for male-pattern baldness.

    Green Apples

    • Near the skin of green, immature apples is a substance called procyanidin B-2. In tests, this substance shows it increases hair growth. Taken internally, it provides a strong antioxidant.

    Catnip

    • A tea made from catnip steeped in water with lavender and strained, then added to apple cider vinegar and put on the hair, improves circulation to the scalp and stimulates hair growth.

    Aloe Vera

    • Aloe vera protects the shaft of the hair and the scalp when applied to the head or put in hair products. This keeps the hair from breaking and helps it grow longer.
