Uses of the Neem Tree

The neem tree is an evergreen that comes from India. Because of its vast array of healing properties, it has been coined as the village pharmacy. The bark, seeds and leaves are used in various forms for their health-promoting compounds. In Sanskrit language, the word for neem is "arista," which means perfect. The neem tree offers a lot of different uses.
  1. Cake

    • Neem seed can be made into cakes, then worked into soil to decrease the amount of nitrogen that is lost.

    Oil

    • Neem seed oil is used as an anti-fungal in shampoos, soaps, toothpaste and creams.

    Leaves

    • Neem tree leaves are applied to the skin to treat warts and chickenpox.

    Twigs

    • The twigs of the neem tree are also used. People in Africa and India use them for toothbrushes.

    Pets

    • The barks and roots of the tree are used to rid pets of ticks and fleas.
