How to Make a Good Protein Shake With Vanilla Whey
Whey protein powder is a nutritional supplement derived from milk. This supplement is typically used in conjunction with exercise to help users gain weight or increase lean muscle mass. However, whey protein shakes can also be used by dieters. A study conducted at the Minnesota Applied Research Center found that dieters who drank a whey protein shake twice a day lost more body fat and preserved more muscle mass than dieters who did not consume whey protein. Whey protein powders come in a variety of flavors, including vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. You can make a great-tasting protein shake with vanilla whey and a few key ingredients.Things You'll Need

1
Plug your clean blender into a nearby wall socket.
-
2
Add one to 1.5 cups of milk to the blender. The type of milk you use is up to you. If you are trying to lose weight, stick with nonfat milk. If you are taking vanilla whey to gain weight, try reduced fat or whole milk. You could also use alternative milk products such as soy, rice or almond milk.
-
3
Add one to two scoops of vanilla whey protein powder to the blender. The scoop should be included in your vanilla whey protein container. The serving size of whey protein will vary based on the product, but typically one or two scoops is a full serving size. Check the nutritional facts on your whey protein powder to confirm.

4
Add half a cup of fruit to the blender to increase the nutritional value of your shake. Frozen strawberries or bananas work well with vanilla whey, but don't feel limited to these fruits. Blueberries, mangoes and peaches are also good choices. Adding fruit is optional, but it will increase the vitamin and fiber content of your shake.
-
5
Add other optional ingredients. A tablespoon or two of wheat germ or ground flaxseed can provide some fiber and healthy fats to your shake. If you decide not to add frozen fruit, you may want to add three or four ice cubes to thicken and chill your shake.
-
6
Replace the lid on the blender and blend the contents thoroughly. If the shake seems too thick, add a few splashes of milk until it reaches the desired consistency. If it seems too thin, add some more fruit or ice to thicken the shake.

7
Pour into a tall glass.
