Place 1 ounce of your whey protein powder into your blender. It comes in a variety of flavors, but this recipe works best with plain or vanilla. Most containers of whey come with a plastic scooper (one scoop equals one ounce).

Add 1 teaspoon of flaxseed oil. Flaxseed contains Omega-3 essential fatty acids similar to fish and can be added to shakes and baked recipes. It has a nutty flavor and is high in fiber.

Add 1/2 cup of yogurt to your blender. Yogurt has probiotics that are beneficial to your digestive system. Yogurt also contains calcium, which is good for bones and teeth.

Pour in 1 cup apple juice to your protein shake. This will give your shake the liquid it needs to hydrate your body before and after workouts. You can substitute apple juice for soy milk or orange juice.

Blend all your ingredients until they are smooth. Pour into a tall glass and drink it before or after a workout. It also can be used as a snack in the middle of the day. It contains 27 grams of protein and approximately 335 calories.
