Foods Not Allowed on the South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet has been a popular weight loss diet for many years. It is difficult to follow, and there are quite a few limitations on what you can eat. Once you reach a weight loss goal, you will be able to incorporate some of these foods back into your diet.-
Grains
-
Grains are one of the most limited foods. You must avoid breads, all kinds of cereals, pasta, crackers, and all baked goods.
Fruits and Vegetables
-
Many vegetables are favorable on the South Beach Diet. Stay away from high sugar and starchy vegetables, such as potatoes and beets. You will need to avoid all fruits and fruit juices.
Dairy Products
-
Milk, yogurt and ice cream are also not to be consumed when following the South Beach Diet. Full fat cheeses must also not be eaten.
Meat and poultry
-
Most meat is acceptable. A few meats to avoid include veal, honey baked ham, fatty cuts of poultry, and certain cuts of beef--including brisket, ribs, liver, and other fatty cuts.
Others
-
Alcohol and most soy products (except for tofu) should also be avoided on the South Beach Diet.
