How to Diet South Beach Style
You have heard the name and now you are wondering what it means to diet South Beach style. Although there are books on how to do the diet, books of recipes for the diet and tons of websites offering support while on the diet, the South Beach diet is really very simply about the foods you eat and those you choose not to.Instructions

1
Understand that the basis for the diet is eating good carbohydrates and good fats. Good carbs are fiber and natural sugar like those found in fruit and good fats are those found in lean meats, low fat cheeses and eggs.
-
2
Eat only lean meats, eggs, nuts and veggies for 2 weeks; this is referred to as phase one. During this time stay away from some veggies which are higher in carbs, such as carrots and winter squashes. All other foods are off limits at this time.
-
3
Drink water and non-caffeinated diet beverages. After the first 2 weeks, you can add in an occasional glass of red wine, but no non-diet soda, no beer and no juice. Use skim milk and artificial sweetener if you need something in your decaf coffee or tea.
-
4
Continue phase 1 of the South Beach diet longer than the 2 weeks if you still have cravings for sweets, pasta and other bad carbs. Often times dieters return to this phase if they have a slip up along the diet journey.
-
5
Reintroduce good carbs slowly into your diet. These foods include high fiber fruits and multigrain, high fiber breads. One serving of carbs a day is best as long as you want to continue losing weight and it does not cause you to crave sweets.
-
6
Use fruit as a dessert after dinner as a treat. Sometimes fruit eaten earlier in the day will raise your blood sugar level, causing you to crave other sweet foods throughout the day.
-
7
Return to steps 2 and 3 if you have splurged on your diet, you crave sweets or your weight loss has come to a stop.
