Vitamins for Balding

Men have always tried to fight off baldness, but women are sufferers as well. According to the book "Healing With Vitamins," it is normal for the average person, both male and female, to lose 50 to 150 hairs every day. Salon workers claim that even more hairs may be lost if a person wears a hat or often has her hair up in a pony tail. Baldness starts when the hairs you lose each day stop growing back. You can take certain vitamins to help prevent balding.
  1. Iron

    • According to "Healing With Vitamins," an iron deficiency can lead to a lack in hair growth. To prevent this, take 50 mg of iron each day. It is also important, however, not to overdose on iron, which can cause stomach upset and diarrhea.

    Vitamin C

    • Vitamin C boosts iron absorption, according to "Healing With Vitamins." To make sure that the iron does its work to keep new hair growth coming, take 100 mg of vitamin C on a daily basis.

    Zinc

    • "Healing With Vitamins" states that a zinc deficiency can not only cause diarrhea and skin rash, but also hair loss. Just 30 mg a day can help begin new hair growth in about a week.

    Biotin

    • Biotin enhances the growth of hair. It both thickens the hair fibers and diminishes the amount of shedding (hair that falls out on its own on a daily basis). "Healing With Vitamins" recommends 300 mg a day.
