What Is a Good Vitamin for Hair Growth for Length and Thickness?

Several vitamins claim to help hair growth by making it longer, healthier and stronger. Not all of these vitamins and supplements, however, have been proven to work. Classified as a B vitamin, biotin works to repair and strengthen damaged hair. When combined with topical clobetasol propionate and zinc, it increases hair growth and thickness.
  1. Hair Growth

    • As a major B vitamin, biotin works to insure thicker and healthier hair. Taken orally, 50mg of biotin daily, combined with a healthy diet and exercise, can promote hair growth in men and women. Biotin also repairs damaged hair, making the hair thicker and healthier. Biotin capsules are sold over the counter.

    Other Uses

    • Taken as a vitamin supplement, biotin can help with other health problems, including brittle finger nails and toe nails and vaginal yeast infections.

    Side Effects

    • Side effects of biotin can include chest pain, rash, itchy or swollen skin, skin hives, breathing problems and tightness in your throat or chest. If any of these side effects occur, consult a physician immediately.
