N-Acetyl Cysteine Detox

N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is a powerful antioxidant that is found naturally in foods and eliminates metals and free radicals from the body. Therefore, it can be an important tool for detoxification.
  1. Mercury Toxicity

    • NAC helps the body to produce glutathione, which helps it to neutralize the presence of harmful metals such as mercury from fillings, lead from paint, or metals accumulated from drinking water and seafood.

    Colon Cancer Prevention

    • Colon cancer, which has been associated with the growth of abnormal polyps cells, can be prevented with NAC, which discourages the growth of this abnormal tissue.

    Chemical Detox

    • NAC has been used to prevent the harmful effects of Tylenol (acetaminophen) overuse and may be effective in pushing out a buildup of various other chemicals processed by the liver as well.

    Alcohol Detox

    • N-Acetyl Cysteine has been shown to effectively treat and prevent hangovers, along with longer-term effects of alcohol use. When taken it binds with acetaldehyde, a toxic metabolite of alcohol, and prevents physiological damage.

    Drug Use

    • The Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston conducted a study which proved that NAC reduced the cravings of 15 individuals who were dependent on cocaine. Current studies involving the effects on marijuana cravings are underway.
