Vitamins for Pain

When you are looking for something to relieve your pain, you first need to identify what type of pain you have. While vitamins will not cure your pain, they are necessary for a healthy body to aid itself in the relief of pain. Vitamins can be obtained through a well balanced diet or through supplements.
  1. Vitamin C

    • Vitamin C is an antioxidant and necessary for a healthy body. It has been used in aiding pain management for terminally ill cancer patients. Good food sources of vitamin C are oranges, pineapple, broccoli and spinach.

    Vitamin B-12

    • Vitamin B-12 has been shown to help reduce the pain of headaches. This vitamin has also been shown to reduce chronic back pain. Research completed at Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas has shown notable results using vitamin B-12.

    Vitamin E

    • According to a study cited on a report on CNN, vitamin E may be helpful in the relief of pain due to muscle soreness, particularly in men and after strenuous exercise. The vitamin is an antioxidant that helps protect the cells and reduce inflammation.

    Vitamin D

    • One side effect of a vitamin D deficiency is muscle soreness and bone pain. A few good food sources high in vitamin D are butter, eggs, salmon, yogurt and dark leafy vegetables.
