Side Effects of Trivisol
Tri-Vi-Sol is a blend of vitamins commonly used to treat babies that have vitamin deficiencies. Tri-Vi-Sol consists of vitamins A, C, and D, and offers them to the body simultaneously. It is intended to be taken by children only. Similarly to the majority of medications (prescription and over-the-counter) and dietary supplements, various side effectscould occur from taking Tri-Vi-Sol.-
Common Side Effects
-
The few common side effects tend to go away once the body gets used to Tri-Vi-Sol. These minor side effects include headache, stomach upset, and a bad or abnormal taste lingering inside of the mouth. If you have any of these side effects, and they happen to be particularly long-lasting, or if they get worse as time goes on, you need to consult your doctor about the matter.
Allergic Reactions
-
The most serious side effects of Tri-Vi-Sol are allergic reactions to it, although they are unlikely. If you think that you (or your infant) are experiencing such a reaction to this supplement, you need to get emergency medical attention as soon as possible. Some signs to look out for include the tongue, lips, mouth, and face becoming swollen, chest tightness, breaking out into hives, rash on the skin, trouble with breathing and itchiness.
Drug Interactions
-
Drug interactions can interfere with the effectiveness of the medications or dietary supplements that are involved. They can also occasionally bring upon unpleasant side effects. There are various types of medications and supplements that could interact with Tri-Vi-Sol, including blood pressure or heart medicines, diuretics, tretinoin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and trimethoprin. It is important that you inform your doctor of any and all medicines and nutritional supplements you are taking.
Calcium
-
It is advised not to take this multivitamin alongside any dairy products, calcium supplements, milk or antacids that contain any calcium. Calcium could make the body's absorption of the vitamins A, C, and D more difficult, thus making the multivitamin far less effective.
Warning
-
People are generally advised against taking multiple multivitamins at the same time unless, of course, they are advised to do so by their physician. Tri-Vi-Sol is no exception. Doing so could result in severe side effects or a possible overdose of vitamins.
