Nitro Tech is one of several products made by MuscleTech, a brand of sports-oriented nutrition supplements marketed by Iovate Health Sciences Inc., a private Canadian corporation. Nitro Tech promises consumers increased protein synthesis, insulin sensitivity, increased strength, nitrogen retention and more than eight pounds of muscle in two weeks. Nitro Tech supplements are available as flavored powders, milkshakes (or "RTD") and bars.

Muscle Milk is primarily made up of casein, the protein found in dairy milk. Nitro Tech, on the other hand, is composed of whey proteins which are compounds of isolated proteins found in whey, a by-product of casein. Muscle Milk also contains whey and whey protein but in small amounts. Additionally, Muscle Milk does not use artificial sweeteners or flavors but Nitro Tech uses aspartame, an artificial sweetener and artificial flavors.
