Nitro Tech and Muscle Milk are protein supplements used by individuals who are looking to increase muscle mass or enhance performance. Nitro Tech uses mostly whey protein while Muscle Milk is composed of casein protein. Muscle Milk is all natural while Nitro Tech uses artificial ingredients.

    • Muscle Milk refers to a number of high-protein dietary supplements created and sold by CytoSport, a California manufacturer of sports-oriented supplements. Muscle Milk products promise consumers increased strength, lean muscle growth, fast recovery from exercise, sustainable energy and better performance through regular use and consumption of their products which are sold as powders, cereals, bars and shakes.

    Nitro Tech

    • Nitro Tech is one of several products made by MuscleTech, a brand of sports-oriented nutrition supplements marketed by Iovate Health Sciences Inc., a private Canadian corporation. Nitro Tech promises consumers increased protein synthesis, insulin sensitivity, increased strength, nitrogen retention and more than eight pounds of muscle in two weeks. Nitro Tech supplements are available as flavored powders, milkshakes (or "RTD") and bars.

    Endorsements

    • According to Nitro Tech, past and present Mr. Olympias such as Jay Cutler and Dexter Jackson use Nitro Tech to sculpt their bodies and build muscle mass. Conversely, Muscle Milk lists the following athletes as "Muscle Milk Athletes:" Adrian Peterson, Ryan Braun, Brandon Roy, Dustin Barca, Ryan Sipes and Justin Brayton.

    Ingredients

    • Muscle Milk is primarily made up of casein, the protein found in dairy milk. Nitro Tech, on the other hand, is composed of whey proteins which are compounds of isolated proteins found in whey, a by-product of casein. Muscle Milk also contains whey and whey protein but in small amounts. Additionally, Muscle Milk does not use artificial sweeteners or flavors but Nitro Tech uses aspartame, an artificial sweetener and artificial flavors.

    Cost

    • Muscle Milk powder costs approximately $23 for a 2.48-pound jar and a 12-pack of bars costs roughly $18. On the other hand, a 4-pound jar of Nitro Tech powder costs approximately $40 and 12 bars cost $40.
