Vitamins That Promote Healthy Hair

Maintaining a good diet doesn't just benefit the body, but also the condition of a person's hair. What you eat can be a reflection of the state of your scalp. Through absorbing the proper vitamins, you can be a step closer to shiny, healthy locks.
  1. Vitamin B6

    • Bananas, sweet potatoes, white potatoes and spinach all are good sources for vitamin B6.

    Vitamin B12

    • Meat, poultry, fish and dairy products all contain vitamin B12.

    Vitamin A

    • Vitamin A produces sebum, an oily substance secreted by the hair follicles that's considered the scalp's natural hair conditioner. Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A.

    Vitamin C

    • Spinach, broccoli, and Swiss chard contain vitamin C. Just like vitamin A, vitamin C also helps produce sebum.

    Omega-3 Fatty Acids

    • For a healthy scalp, Omega-3 fatty acids are a must. Salmon and ground flaxseed are great sources for Omega-3.
