How to Tell What Types of Vitamins You Need
Instructions
-
-
1
Eat a healthy, balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits and vegetables, lean protein and whole grains. If you are eating a varied diet filled with these types of foods, it's unlikely you will be deficient in any vitamins.
-
2
Spend a few minutes each day outside in the sun, without sunscreen, to make sure that your body can make adequate amounts of vitamin D.
-
3
Take a multivitamin daily in case you are not getting enough of any one vitamin.
-
4
Check with a physician if you are experiencing any symptoms of vitamin deficiency, such as hair loss, brittle nails, bloodshot eyes, acne, jaundice, hives or dry skin. Many symptoms of vitamin deficiency could be caused by another health problem.
-
5
Ask your doctor about a blood test to determine if you are missing any important nutrients. A blood test will tell you if you have serious problems, so getting your vitamins through a balanced diet is still the best way to go about it.
