How to Gain Weight for a Fight

Gaining weight for a fight may not be as simple as it seems. Not only do you have to keep in shape, you have to eat foods that are high in fat but also high in nutrients. There must be an increase in food intake, however the food must also be nutritious. You do not want to gain weight unhealthily and do harm to your body, especially if you are an athlete. You must eat more calories than you burn in a day in order to gain more weight.

Instructions

    • 1

Eat nutritious foods that are high in calories. These can include whole-grain breads, lean red meat, fish, beans or vegetables such as avocados and potatoes. Also incorporate heart healthy oils such as olive oil into your food regimen.

    • 2

Increase the caloric value of your meals. This may mean adding additional nutritional foods that are high in fat, such as avocados to sandwiches, whole milk to your mashed potatoes or lean ground meat to your tomato sauce.

    • 3

Eat consistently and do not skip meals. Try to eat at least three full meals a day, with snacks in between. Also, increase your portion size. This will increase your caloric intake. However, do not continue eating if you are full. Overeating can be harmful.

    • 4

Exercise with weights consistently. Since you are not focused on losing weight, your exercise program should not revolve around a cardiovascular routine.
