Instructions

  1. Weighing Yourself

    • 1

Remove your clothing and shoes to ensure that you get an accurate reading on your scale.

    • 2

Turn on an electronic scale before stepping onto it. Tap the middle with your foot so that "0" shows up. You do not need to do anything special before stepping onto an analog scale.

    • 3

Step onto the middle of the scale with your feet slightly apart and your weight distributed evenly between both legs. Avoid leaning to one side; it can throw off the results.

    • 4

Wait for the number to load on the screen, or for the dial to stop moving, before reading the final result. Most scales can give results in pounds, kilograms and stones.

    Measuring Height

    • 5

Place the starting end of your measuring tape slightly beneath the edge of your foot to hold it in place.

    • 6

Stand up straight while holding the measuring tape straight up beside your body.

    • 7

Place your thumb and forefinger around the tape measure at the spot directly above your head to mark your height.

    • 8

Lower the tape measure, with your thumb and forefinger firmly in place, and read the number that they are marking. The number will typically be in centimeters or inches.
