What Type of Assembly Is Needed for an Elliptical?

Assembly is one of the less difficult considerations in buying an elliptical exercise machine. There are, however, a few things to keep in mind when preparing to assemble your elliptical.
  1. Tools

    • The tools needed to assemble your elliptical should be included. However, you may need a hammer to extract the elliptical from its packaging. Many elliptical machines are shipped in wooden frames nailed together. You may need a hex wrench and ratchet set to tighten the screws on the machine.

    Parts

    • Your elliptical should come with an assembly manual. The manual should list the parts needed for assembly. Count the included components and call the manufacturer if any are missing or damaged.

    Construction

    • Start with the bottom of the elliptical. Tighten the hex screws until the base is stable before assembling the rest of the machine. The most difficult part will be putting the flywheel into place, as the flywheel is the heaviest part of the machine. Have someone else hold it while you tighten the screws.
