How to Calculate a Range Weight

You can measure your own weight range using only your weight and height. The Body Mass Index, or BMI, measures the average range of weight using a specific formula devised from your weight and height ratio. The range of weight differs between men and women -- and it has different values within the minimum and maximum weight equations.

Measure your height with a tape measure using inches.

    • 2

Consider the normal BMI for men or women calculated in pounds-per-inches squared. You will use the BMI range to calculate the range weight in Step 3 and 4. The inch^2 is translated as "inches squared." Men: 0.0294 to 0.0376 lbs./inch^2. Women: 0.0272 to 0.0367 lbs./inches^2

    • 3

Calculate your weight range using the following formulas. For men: Minimum weight = Height x Height x 0.0294 lbs.

      Maximum weight = Height x Height x 0.0376 lbs. Therefore, if your height is 80 inches your minimum weight = 80 x 80 x 0.0294 = 188.16 lbs. Maximum weight = 80 x 80 x 0.0376 = 240.64 lbs.

    • 4

Calculate your weight range using the following formulas. For women: Minimum weight = Height x Height x 0.0272 lbs.

      Maximum weight = Height x Height x 0.0367 lbs. Therefore, if your height is 60 inches your minimum weight = 60 x 60 x 0.0294 = 105.84 lbs. Maximum weight = 60 x 60 x 0.0376 = 135.35 lbs.
