Health O Meter Strain Gauge Instructions

Strain gauges allow the measurement of movement in a particular direction. These electrical components change their resistance according to the amount of pressure applied to the miniature circuit. Strain gauges are commonly used in digital scales found both in the home and in various businesses. The Health O Meter digital scale uses this type of sensor to accurately measure the weight of a patient. Strain gauge scales need to be set to "zero" before taking a weight measurement to ensure accurate results.

Instructions

  1. Using The Scale

    • 1

Place the scale on a flat hard surface before taking the measurement. Using a soft carpet or slanted surface will affect the accuracy of the scale.

    • 2

Turn on the scale by tapping the top plate of the scale until the display flashes. When the display is flashing, the scale is trying to "zero" the meter.

    • 3

Step on the scale when the display reads "0". Distribute your weight evenly over the surface to get the most accurate reading.

    • 4

Step off the scale when a number is shown on the display. Your weight will be shown for a few seconds then the unit will turn off automatically.

    Battery Replacement

    • 5

Tap the scale to turn on. If the display shows "Lo", then it is time to change the battery.

    • 6

Locate the battery panel on the underside of the scale.

    • 7

Remove the cover and set aside. Remove the battery and dispose of properly.

    • 8

Insert the new battery and replace the cover.
