How to Reduce Weight Without Pain

According to the American Council on Exercise, if you're overweight, you put yourself at higher risk for common health issues such as diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Additionally, being overweight often damages self-confidence and makes simple daily tasks feel stressful. Losing weight will lower your risk for weight-related disease and improve your self-esteem. Losing weight doesn't have to be painful; you can take several small steps that will make a big difference over time.

Instructions

Swap the unhealthy foods in your diet for fruits, vegetables, lean meats and whole grains. This allows you to lose weight by cutting calories from your diet, not by cutting back on how much you're eating. For example, swap out your hamburger for a skinless chicken breast with a side of broccoli.

Take a daily multivitamin to support your body's nutritional needs. When you're malnourished, it's more difficult to lose weight, because your body is craving nutrients. Select a multivitamin that's suited to your age and gender, and take it every day when you wake up.

Go for a 30-minute walk once a day. Walking is a light form of aerobic exercise that works the muscles of your lower body and abdomen. If walking alone sounds unpleasant, ask a friend to go with you, or take your dog to keep you company.

Begin exercising for 30 minutes, four to five days a week. Find a fun exercise that you enjoy, such as swimming, dancing, cycling, hiking, jogging or rollerblading. Enjoying your exercise makes it less of a chore and easier to stay motivated.
