Purchasing and mixing ingredients for a chocolate protein shake
-
1
Purchase soy protein isolate powder. Buy powders with the following ingredient list: soy protein isolate, nothing additional. Do not purchase concentrates. Soy protein concentrates - in addition to soy - may include sugar, artificial sweeteners or flavors, coloring, or a variety of other ingredients that may raise the calorie count of the soy product. On the plus side, concentrates are typically more expensive than pure soy protein isolate.

2
Cocoa beans prior to cocoa butter refining process Purchase raw, natural cocoa butter - also known as cacao butter. Additional ingredients boost the calorie count. It is important to remember, cocoa butter also has a variety of cosmetic and medicinal uses. Most cocoa butters used as moisturizers and remedies have additional ingredients that may not be edible.

100 percent natural raw honey is suggested Purchase 100 percent raw honey. While the calorie content of honey is high, it is considerably lower than raw sugar, has no artificial ingredients and raw honey will add a little sweetness to the chocolate flavor of the cocoa butter and remove the vegetable taste of the soy powder.

Mix three tablespoons of soy protein isolate powder, one teaspoon of raw, natural cocoa butter, one teaspoon of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder in 16 ounces of water. The baking powder is not necessary, but will prevent flatulence often associated with soy protein shakes.
-
5
Stir the shake vigorously for one minute to dissolve the honey, cocoa butter and baking soda. Drink the shake quickly or stir the shake regularly if you prefer to enjoy it slowly as the soy will settle to bottom of the glass.
