Drink coffee in the morning. This can curb hunger and reduce cravings for foods that cause water retention. Avoid drinking too much -- especially if you do not typically consume coffee or caffeinated beverages.

Use a sugar substitute and nonfat milk in your coffee. Avoid creamers and sugar.

Drink coffee before a workout. Some studies indicate that drinking a cup of coffee before exercising increases energy and stamina and also aids in lipolysis (fat burning) and the shedding of water weight. Don't drink more than one cup of coffee and be sure to stay hydrated with water as well.

Drink more water as you consume coffee. This may not seem intuitive but water actually manages fluid retention, stimulates urination and rids the body of salts and toxins, thereby helping alleviate excess water-weight retention. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day.
