Weigh yourself and write down the resulting number on a piece of paper.

Write down your height in feet and inches on the same piece of paper.

Calculate how many inches over 5 feet you are and write down the resulting number. If you are 5 feet tall or under, write down "0."

Multiply the number you wrote down by 5 if you are female and 6 if you are male. Write down this number. Add 100 to this number if you are female and 116 if you are male. Write down the resulting number.

Add 10 to this number if you are between 40 and 59 years of age and 20 to this number if you are over 60 years of age.

The resulting number is your approximate ideal weight based upon your height and age.
