How to Calculate Your BMI Using Kgs

Your Body Mass Index is a useful way to find out whether you are underweight, normal, overweight or obese. Calculated from your height and weight, it is an estimation of your body fat, and is a good judge of your risk for diseases that can occur with greater body fat. The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute states that a BMI below 18.5 is underweight, between 18.5 and 24.9 is normal, between 25 and 29.9 is overweight and anything over 30 is obese.

Weigh yourself on the scale and make a note of the result.

Measure your height by standing in your bare feet against a wall with a height chart, or make a mark on the wall at the point where the crown of your head reaches. Make a note of your height in meters.

Calculate your BMI using the following formula: your weight in kilograms divided by the square of your height in meters. For example, if a woman weighed 70 kilograms and measured 1.65 meters, the formula would be 70 divided by (1.65 multiplied by 1.65), which becomes 70 divided by 2.72, which works out at 25.8.
