Diets to Become Slim
Slimming diets consist of healthy, nutrient-dense foods that fuel your body so you can lose weight. Many of these diets cut out carbohydrates and focus on a few food groups such as meat, fruit and vegetables. Dieters are also advised to eat smaller meals more frequently to increase their metabolic rate.-
South Beach Diet
-
The South beach diet is a menu and lifestyle plan created by Dr. Arthur Agatston, a cardiologist and professor at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine. The diet is split into three different phases. In the first phase, which is also the strictest, dieters are advised to eat no carbohydrates, refined starches or sugars. Dr. Agaston recommends staying on phase one for two weeks, but you can stay on this level for longer if you need to lose a great deal of weight. The meals for phase one consist of lean proteins found in turkey, fish, nuts, seeds and specific vegetables such as avocados. The meals gradually shift in phase two of the diet. This phase consists of recipes that include more meat, black bean dishes, whole wheat pastas, sweet potato fries, vegetables, fruits and other healthy choices. Healthy desserts are also encouraged. Dieters are advised to stay on phase two until they reach their weight loss goals. Phase three is the last phase of the diet. This phase is intended to help a person maintain their weight loss from the first two phases. A person can eat the same types of healthy foods and more recipes are recommended. On phase three a person can have more treats in moderation. Some recommended foods for this level are corn on the cob, beef stew and chicken pot pie.
Weight Watchers
-
Weight watchers is a diet plan similar to other programs, except food here si tracked with a point system rather than counting calories. A person meets with a consultant for an evaluation. The person is then advised on how many points they can assume each day. They can use a chart to determine how many points a particular dish is. For instance, chocolate cake might be around 30 points. The dieter may eat anything they want as long as they stay within their points for the day. This diet offers more flexibility, but you might end up being hungry if you choose to eat sweets because sweets are higher in points than vegetables. Dieters are encouraged to eat a variety of healthy foods on this plan. Many people like this plan because they can attend meetings and get continual support from weight consultants.
Jenny Craig
-
Jenny Craig is another weight-loss plan that is similar to Weight Watchers because dieters get support and meal plans as well. The food is prepackaged and given to you with set calories. They have many different food options including chicken fettuccine and marconi and cheese. The meals are packed with nutrients to ensure that people meet their daily vitamin requirements.
