Daily Exercises to Stay Slim

Performing exercise every day helps you maintain a healthy body weight. Include the three important aspects of fitness in your regimen: strength, cardiovascular training and stretching. Keep in mind that a slim body requires a healthy diet plan in addition to your workouts.
  1. Strength

    • Perform strength exercises with at least 48 hours rest between sessions. Alternate muscle groups on different days. Perform legs and abdominal exercises one day, then upper body exercises the next day, then repeat the pattern. Complete each exercise 10 to 20 times, rest for 30 to 60 seconds, and repeat. For additional training, complete each exercise 20 to 30 times and perform three sets of each exercise instead of two.

On legs and abdominal day, perform leg lifts, squats, lunges, sit ups, plank holds, bicycles, and leg raises. On upper body day, perform push-ups, pull ups and triceps dips.

    Cardiovascular

    • For the greatest weight control benefits, perform at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise every day. Try running, biking, swimming, aerobics, kick boxing, dance, cardio machines or hiking. If you chose a high impact exercise like running, alternate days with an exercise that is easier on your joints like walking or swimming. If you chose less intense exercises like walking or ballroom dance do at least 45 minutes of exercise. This will help you burn more calories. The more calories you burn, the more calories you can eat without gaining weight.

    Stretching

    • Stretch for 10 minutes every day after your strength or cardio work out. Stretch each major muscle group at least once. You may wish to use yoga to help you stretch. Yoga can be broken up into small sequences of moves that focus on one muscle group. For a basic yoga sequence, perform a sun salutation. Start in a standing position. Lift arms above your head and lower your upper body. Reach hands towards your toes. Pause. Straighten your back and arms. Try to keep your back parallel to the floor. From here, touch your hands to the floor and move your feet back to form "downward dog." You body should form a V with weight distributed mostly in your feet. Keep your arms straight and lower your hips into upward dog to stretch your torso. In this position you press your palms into the floor and drop your shoulders down and back. Press your chest forward, reaching the crown of your head toward the ceiling. Your thighs will initially be on the floor. Press the tops of your feet down to lift the thighs slightly.
