Increase Calorie Intake
-
Gradually increase the amount of calories you eat per day by adding more to your plate with bigger portion sizes and eventually reaching an additional 500 calories per day on top of your starting calorie count. Stray away from unhealthy foods like fast food meals with produce artery-clogging saturated fats and stick to healthy foods high in calories and fat such as red meat, peanut butter and whole milk. Make it a priority to fuel your body with nourishing foods, even when trying to gain weight.
Weight Train
-
Muscle weighs more than fat, and building muscle will give you some definition in your weight gain process so rather than building flabby, unsightly fat. Consult a local gym or personal trainer to develop the right weight training regimen for you. Limit your cardio exercises, as that exerts calories.
Watch the Fat
-
Without building muscle, you may not be too thrilled with the results of your weight gain. It may all be added as fat around your waist, which can be dangerous to your health. If you start to notice too much fat accumulating in the stomach area, reassess your weight-gaining technique.
