How do I Powerlift While Being Lean?
Staying lean while powerlifting will not only help you look great, but also help you stay in an easier weight competition group. Powerlifting is a fast growing sport, and competitions are split into multiple weight groups. It's best to stay in a lower weight group because lower weight groups generally lift less weight. Powerlifting is vastly different than weightlifting in that it is only concerned with lifting the most weight possible in press, deadlift and squat. Staying lean while powerlifting is similar to staying lean while performing other workouts.Instructions

1
Use a fat caliber to inspect your daily weight gains. In powerlifting you want to gain weight, not lose it, and a scale is not nearly as effective as a fat caliber. Use the instructions on the fat caliber to calculate your body fat percentage. If your body fat percentage increases, eat less calories.

2
Eat a strict, healthy diet. Avoid carbohydrates and processed foods. These foods cause an increase in fat gains. Your diet greatly changes your weight gain.
-
3
Get plenty of sleep all throughout the week. Your body recovers while it sleeps. Inadequate sleep will cause you to gain less muscle.
-
4
Consume something high in protein immediately after your workout since your body needs to be replenished. Consider taking a protein shake with you to the gym to drink afterward.

5
Eat five or six small meals every few hours throughout the day. This allows you to keep your metabolism high and conserve the nutrients you take in throughout the day.
