Instructions

  1. Keep Track of What you Eat

    • 1

Buy a food journal at the bookstore. You can also use a three-ring binder from home and fill it with paper. Write down your weight-loss goals and begin tracking everything you eat right away. The amount of calories you need to eat per day depends on what your current weight is. Simply add a 0 at the end of your current weight to find out how many calories are needed to keep your weight the same. Then take 400 calories off that number to get an idea of how much less you need to eat to start dropping weight.

Go to the gym and sign up for a membership unless you already have one. Exercise five days per week for one full hour. Be sure to alternate workouts every few days. Go on a tour of the facility and get advice from a trainer about how to properly use the equipment. Use different machines and be sure to weight train two days per week. Weight training every day tires out your muscles too quickly, so be very balanced.

Eat five small meals per day rather than three large meals. Be sure to include plenty of raw vegetables and fruit in your daily diet. Avoid eating anything processed like packaged foods, fast food or foods that are devoid of nutrition. Do not eat any pork or fatty meat. Eat lean meats like chicken, salmon, buffalo and turkey. Snack on apples or carrots in between meals. Be sure to eat dinner before 6 p.m. Cut out all soda and fruit juice from your diet. Rather than juicing your fruit, eat it whole. Whole fruit has fiber, which is beneficial for digestion.

Go to the health food store and buy digestive enzymes and cod liver oil. Take enzymes with every meal, and chew your food slowly. Take one tablespoon of cod liver oil daily with breakfast. You need to do this to improve digestion and regulate bowel movements.

Drink eight to 10 16-ounce glasses of water per day. In addition to eating healthy, your body also needs water in order to boost your metabolism. Water is the transport system for nutrients. It carries vitamins and minerals to the cells where they are needed. Water also removes toxins and flushes them out of the body. Listen to your body. Some people who spend more time in the sun or sweat more, may need more water.
