Pull all clothing off of one of your arms. You should be able to see bare flesh from the tops of your fingers to the area about three inches beyond your elbow. You can also do this naked or wear a short sleeved shirt.

    • 2

Extend one of your arms forward so that the arm in question is horizontal and parallel to the ground. Your wrist and arm should be easily seen and extended as far as it can go.

    • 3

Bend the elbow of the arm so the forearm is at a ninety degree angle to the ground. Place your forefinger and the thumb of the other hand on the side of your elbow where the joint meets the rest of the arm.

    • 4

Use the forefinger and your thumb so that you can determine your elbow breadth. You want to measure the gap between them with a ruler. A flexible ruler is ideal for this purpose.

Another way of determining your frame size is to measure the circumference of your wrist. Wrap the ruler around your wrist and measure the area right above the bone.

Consult with the chart at the end of this article. You may have a small, medium or large frame size depending on the size of your wrist or your elbow. Use this measurement to help you determine the number of daily calories you should consume.
