How to Make a Diet Plan From Food You Like

Keeping to any specific diet is difficult after a period of time. Most of the popular diets lack variety, and require you to give up foods that you like. Losing weight and keeping it off is best accomplished by creating your own diet plan using the foods you like to eat, and sticking to it.

Instructions

    • 1

Read a calorie counter book or a weight-loss website to determine how many calories per day you should consume, based on your weight. This is the amount of calories you should consume in one day. Spread them out, or eat them all at once--it makes no difference, although you will be hungry if you eat all of your daily calories in the morning.

    • 2

Write down everything you eat in a notepad as you eat it. Look at the back or side panels of each food product you buy. Jot down the calories per serving in your notebook. When you get to the maximum amount of daily calories you have set for your diet plan, whether it is 1200 or 1500, stop eating for the remainder of the day.

    • 3

Include a variety of fruits in your daily choices. Select any fruit you like, check on the calories you are consuming, and write them down in your little book.

    • 4

Include salads that incorporate food you like in your daily selections. Make a tossed salad. Eliminate the dressing, and use those calories for another food you like that will fill you up more. Add proteins to a tossed salad for a low calorie, healthy lunch or dinner. Write down the calories of every food item contained in the salad, including any dressing that you use.
