Log onto sparkpeople.com, and click the orange "Click Here to Join our 100% Free Program Now" circle.

Fill out the account information, including your email address, and create a username and password. Click "Get Started Now" when you are finished.

Choose either of the two program options, both of which will give you full access to the Spark People calorie tracker. Fill out the information on the following pages required by the program you choose, including information such as height, weight and goals.

Click the option to "Start Your Program."

Choose "Nutrition Tracker" from the "My Tools" list on the left of the page. You can opt to use a Spark People menu or to enter your own foods by clicking "Don't Show Meal Plans" and then "Add A Food." As you enter the foods you eat, the calorie column will reflect the caloric value of each item as well as your total caloric intake for the day.
