The best basis for the heath of any body function and system is a healthy diet. Everyone knows this, but few people actually follow a healthy eating plan. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables every day. It is easy to replace poor eating habits with good ones. Instead of cereal for breakfast, eat a banana. For lunch eat a sandwich that has a lot of fresh veggies on it and use a whole grain bread. Stay away from sodas and chips. Dinner can be steamed vegetables, a baked potato, a fresh salad and a small amount of meat.

Processed and pre-prepared foods are some of the worst for the body and nervous system. A lack of nutrition can make someone more susceptible to nervous breakdowns and other health risks associated with the nervous system. Stay away from refined sugars and processed foods. Switch to sea salt rather than regular table salt.

Exercise is an important part of caring for the nervous system. Be sure you are getting at least 15 to 30 minutes of aerobic activity at least three times a week. This will help your nervous system control the body.

Vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins for the brain and nervous system. People who are not exposed to vitamin D are often depressed and gloomy. One of the easiest ways to get vitamin D is to get daily sun exposure. About 15 minutes a day is enough. Just be sure to use sunscreen!

The brain plays a major roll in the nervous system. All the other parts of the nervous system report back to the brain. Therefore it is important that the bran in functioning at top capacity. One of the easiest ways to do this is to play small brain games every day. Complete a crossword puzzle or a Sudoku puzzle.

Water is a necessary part of nervous system functions. After all, about 70% of the body is water! Drink plenty of water every day. At least 8 glasses is the minimum you should be drinking, although some people say that the body needs more. Up to ½ your body weight in ounces is recommended by some medical professionals.
