How to make healthy choices at a pizzeria

Pizzerias are often seen as having only unhealthy food. That isn't necessarily the case. You can find food that is good for you even at these establishments. Here is how to make healthy choices at a pizzeria.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a salad from the pizzeria. When you do so, either ask for oil and vinegar for dressing or use your own. Make sure to order a salad that doesn't have any deli meats or cheeses on it. This will make for a healthy opener to your meal.

    • 2

Avoid any and all fried foods from a pizzeria. Some people truly believe that fried vegetables are okay because the food item is still a vegetable. That simply is not the case.

    • 3

See if you can order a pizza with a smaller amount of cheese on the pizza than normal. This can decrease the fat content of the pizza, thus making it healthier.

    • 4

Order a wheat pizza, sandwich or pasta from the pizzeria. You would be surprised by how many pizzerias offer this option. Wheat bread is healthier than regular white and will probably cost the same at your local pizzeria.

    • 5

Instead of putting meats on your pizza, load it up with fresh vegetables or even fruits. Practically every pizzeria offers peppers and onions. Many pizzerias will offer pineapple or other fruits as toppings for your pizza as well. These are a healthy alternative to pepperoni, sausage or ham.
