How to Dress Cute When Feeling Fat

Few things are worse for your confidence than waking up, looking in the mirror and finding yourself looking a little heavier than normal. While only diet and exercise can bring about weight loss, making good fashion decisions can help you feel better about your appearance. While your options are not infinite, there are still plenty of things you can do to dress when you are feeling fat, granted you're willing to spend some time poking around your closet or dresser.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose only your best-fitting clothes. Avoid items from the back of your closet that require a squeeze to slip into. Because new clothes can also present some problems from being washed less, or just not being stretched out enough, don't put on anything you just purchased.

Wear black and dark colors because dark clothing makes you look slimmer. It is also classy and allows you to wear snazzy skirts and dress slacks. However, avoid pleated dress slacks if you are feeling big around the waist because these generally emphasize this area of your body.

Put on cute accessories that draw attention to aspects of your appearance about which you feel less self-concious. For example, if you are worried about belly fat but feel good about your neck, choose a nice necklace to emphasize it. If you have a larger figure in general but very slim wrists, pick out a favorite watch or bracelet.

Wear vertical rather than horizontal stripes. Horizontal stripes running sideways across your shirt make you look wider than you actually are.
