1
Find a natural diuretic aid from your local health food store. Diuretic teas include dandelion, fennel, ginger and nettle.
-
2
Incorporate foods and juices into your diet that are known to have diuretic qualities. Many foods with high water content actually help get rid of excess water in the body. These include artichokes, asparagus, cabbage, celery, cucumbers, lettuce and watermelon. You can also drink cranberry juice, coffee or tea, which also work as diuretics.
-
3
Avoid processed foods or those with high starch or high sodium values as these nutrients help the body retain water.
-
4
Drink at least eight glasses of water every day. The more water you drink, the quicker your body will be able to flush out the waste products and toxins that are making you hold on to water in the first place.
-
5
Sweat out water weight by going into a sauna or steam room for 20 minutes. This is for temporary water weight loss only, as what you lose through this method will come back once you are hydrated again.
-
6
Eat bananas, carrots, collard greens or beans to replace the potassium that will be diminished as part of the water loss. If you are buying pre-packaged potassium-rich foods, make sure they also have low sodium.
