1
Start by reading the diet guide included with the 6-Minute Ab machine. Getting a toned, taut stomach actually involves more than just crunches. The reason most people don't have a defined "6-pack" is because a layer of fat covers the stomach - and even those in very good shape often don't have defined abdominal muscles. For the 6-Minute Ab Machine to be effective, you will need to begin a diet plan similar to the one outlined in the instruction booklet that will reduce your body fat percentage. Only when your body fat percentage is at about 10% (this percentage will be higher for a woman) will your abdominal muscles be visible and clearly defined. As a result, diet is the single largest factor in successfully using the 6-Minute Ab Machine.

2
Decide which of the included resistance bands you will need to use with the 6-Minute Ab Machine. There are yellow bands, already attached to the device, which offer a moderate level of resistance better suited to beginners. The additional orange bands give the user a higher level of resistance, more suitable for stronger people. You can easily swap the bands depending on your needs.

Sit in the chair as you would normally. Place the 6-Minute Ab Machine in your lap and grip the Y-shaped handles. Then compress the handles by bending forward and contracting your stomach muscles, as you would when doing a crunch. As the machine is being compressed, you will hear a series of clicks. 3 clicks means you have compressed the 6-Minute Ab Machine completely. Then return to an upright position and you will hear an additional 3 clicks. The 6 clicks in total take about 6 seconds to complete.

4
Use the 6-Minute Ab Machine for 6 minutes per day, or according to the exercise plans included in the instruction booklet. Alternatively, watch the included DVD and follow along with the exercise program. The 6-Minute Ab Program recommends using music with a 6 beat rhythm to motivate you during your workout session, and keep you in time with the 6 clicks of the completed abdominal movement.
