How to Get Rid of Cellulite & Water

Cellulite and water weight are two unpleasant skin and body conditions. Cellulite, also referred to as orange-peel skin, is caused by accumulations of fat cells that are pushing against your skin which create an irregular and bumpy appearance to skin. Water weight can be caused by everything from your diet to medical conditions such as arthritis and kidney disease. To get rid of both conditions, there are various lifestyle changes you can incorporate into your routine and daily living.

Instructions

    • 1

Before beginning any exercise regime or lifestyle change, consult with your doctor to exclude any underlying medical condition that is causing bloating and water retention. According to the Anne Collins website, allergic reactions and thyroid and liver disease can all cause your body to bloat and retain water.

    • 2

Eat a healthy diet that contains fresh fruits, vegetables, whole-grains, lean protein such as chicken and turkey and unsaturated fats such as canola and olive oil. Avoid fatty, sugary foods that are high in calories and low in nutrients as these can increase your weight and body fat, making cellulite appear worse than it is.

    • 3

Lower your salt intake. Excess salt makes your body retain water and causes bloating. The American Heart Association recommends a daily sodium consumption of no more than 1500 milligrams.

    • 4

Eat bananas, raisins, avocados and apricots because these fruits are high in potassium. Potassium helps your body balance fluids and helps alleviate bloating.

    • 5

Massage those parts of your body effected by cellulite to help reduce its appearance. Use a loofah, massage-glove or your hands and apply circular massaging motions to your skin, to stimulate the blood flow and eliminate toxins from within the body. Reducing toxins will reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Apply a topical anti-cellulite cream that contains 0.3 percent retinol to problem areas. Mayoclinic.com states that applying a 0.3 percent retinol cream twice a day will reduce the appearance of cellulite in approximately six months.

    • 7

Perform aerobic exercise three times per week to increase your metabolism. Aerobic exercise will help sweat out toxins and excess sodium that can cause bloating. Choose from cardiovascular exercises, such as running, walking, biking or swimming which will quickly give an aerobic workout when done strenusouly.

    • 8

Add strength training to your exercise routine to increase muscle tissue and reduce your body fat. Perform exercises such as push-ups, crunches, lunges, bicep curls, chest presses and triceps dips, to develop muscles which will help you appear more lean.

Drink water all throughout the day. A minimum of 8 to 12 glasses per day is recommeded. Water flushes out toxins including excess sodium and it promotes weight loss by making you feel full and therefore suppressing your appetite.
