Exercise while you watch television. Place a treadmill in front of your television and walk or jog instead of sitting in your easy chair. Place an exercise mat on the floor in front of the television. Do stretches or yoga while watching your favorite show.

Turn cleaning your house into an exercise workout. Do your own cleaning, vacuuming, making the bed, laundry and mopping the floor. Listen to lively music while you clean and put a little more action into your steps. Walk through your house every evening and pick up and put away stray items.

Cook your meals and eat at home. Add action to fixing your meals such as chopping your vegetables and shredding your own cheese. Replace high-calorie drinks with water. Keep prepared fresh vegetables in the refrigerator that are easy to grab and eat as snacks. Substitute lean fish or chicken for high-calorie fatty meats.

Choose to stand whenever possible. Stand while making phone calls or surfing the net. Plan to stop and stretch during long periods of sedentary work.

Play with your children or grandchildren. Take them to the park, swimming or outside for a walk. Play a game of catch or Frisbee to incorporate exercise into your day. Play interactive video games with your children.

Take several short walks during the day. Take your dog for a walk or walk to the grocery store. Walk through the malls and visit each store when shopping. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
