How to Manifest Your Ideal Body Weight

Reducing or maintaining a healthy weight drastically reduces your risk of heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers and depression. While a healthy diet and exercise are crucial to obtaining your weight loss goals, a positive mindset will also help increase your commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Preparing yourself physically and mentally can help boost your ability to achieve successful results with your diet and weight loss plan.

Instructions

  1. Prepare Physically

    • 1

Use an online health calculator to determine the ideal body weight for your age, sex and height. You may also do this calculation manually. For women convert your height into inches and multiply every inch over 5 feet by 1.7, then add 49. For men multiply every inch over 5 feet by 2.3 and then add 50.

    • 2

Schedule adequate time to exercise. Rather than exercising when you have time, set aside a specific time that is only used for physical activity. This will establish exercise as a priority and increase your likelihood of following through with it.

    • 3

Determine the forms of exercise you will participate in. If your climate isn't ideal for outdoor exercise then purchasing a gym membership can be an alternative. A gym membership may also allow you to participate in classes and other group related exercise activities.

    • 4

Create a diet or meal plan that will be used to help you achieve your goals. Make sure you are aware and prepared for the expectations of the diet. It is also important to identify what areas of your lifestyle will need to be altered to compensate for your new eating plan. The changes you will need to make may vary, but could include learning to make healthy food choices, limiting alcohol intake and learning to track calorie consumption. Be aware of any actions that may prevent success with your weight loss goals and take action to change them.

    Preparing Mentally

    • 5

Make a vow to yourself and stay committed to it. Don't allow yourself to rationalize ways out of your commitment to a healthier lifestyle. Health and fitness magazines can offer stories of others who achieved weight loss, which can be a source of positive motivation. It can also be helpful to find a coach, trainer or friend who can help in holding you accountable in your actions.

    • 6

Practice patience with yourself. It isn't possible to gain 25 lbs. overnight, and you certainly won't lose it that fast. Don't get caught up in looking for the finish line. Remind yourself why you are doing this everyday and revel in the small achievements that you make.

Post motivational quotes near your mirrors and kitchen. Posting positive words can help prevent unhealthy eating in the kitchen and operate as encouragement when you are in front of a mirror.
